Common Queries

You Ask - I Answer

I’ve compiled a list of the most frequent questions that I have received over my career. It’s normal and encouraged for clients to ask many questions when choosing to work with a psychologist/ counsellor /coach.

Here are some answers to the questions I receive the most. If you can’t find what you are looking for, please get in touch.

How does counselling work?

Typically, sessions are done weekly with each session being 50-60 mins in duration.

They may be tailored to suit the client's unique requirements. I believe in recommending to my clients, the frequency, number of sessions, etc. The decision and choice always belong to the clients and is respected completely.

The whole process is confidential. It is the client's safe space. And I hold this space with genuine respect.

In case of children (<18 years), the first session or history-taking session is generally done with parents.

What are the approaches you use?

I generally lean on CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) practices and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) techniques. However, keeping in mind the unique needs of my clients, I also borrow suitable practices from other approaches that I am trained in.

When should I take counselling/ coaching sessions?

Consider seeking counselling or coaching if you're:

  • Facing challenges in professional or personal relationships.

  • Mood or behaviour changes that last longer than usual

  • Increased irritability and lowered threshold

  • Decreased or lack of motivation/ energy levels

  • Feeling lost or stuck or helpless or morose

  • Wanting to grow personally and improve communication skills.

Remember, therapy is a sign of strength and self-awareness, not weakness. It can empower you to navigate life's complexities and reach your full potential.

However, Counselling/coaching isn't just for major issues. It can help you navigate challenges, grow personally, manage emotions better, and find direction when feeling lost. Don't hesitate to seek help; it shows strength and can lead to a more fulfilling life.
